My Dearest Adrian,
It only seems like yesterday when we took that trip that forever changed our lives. That was such a perfect introduction to our love story. Although, unlike that paradise island, our story is far from being “picture perfect”. Our story doesn’t have the most ideal back story, and it is not filled with grand moments as well. But then, look at where we are now.
All of the challenges and trials that we went through only made our relationship stronger. All of those challenges and trials that we went through only made this day more real & meaningful, more picture perfect, and one of our grandest moments together. God is indeed the greatest author and storyteller of our lives. Every event and trial were all a revelation of His goodness and glory.
Erich Fromm, in his book “The Art of Loving”, said that, “To love someone is not just a strong feeling, it is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise.”
Addie, from the moment that I made the decision to love you, I already know that it won’t be easy. But I believe in hope, I believe in love, I believe that in Christ we can conquer all things together.
God’s timing is indeed perfect. He allowed this day to only be possible at the time when we already have Him in our lives. Thank you for being the bridge that led me back to Him. Thank you for making me feel that life is getting better, as long as we are together. I promise that this will only be the beginning of our wonderful journey & partnership.
I promise to stand with you as you fulfill your dreams. I will be your number 1 supporter, cheerleader, but maybe sometimes, your “annoyer” too. I will strive to continuously improve and grow with you, spiritually, intellectually, personally, professionally, but hopefully not too much, physically.
Kidding aside, I promise to work side by side with you as we build our very own paradise – our home. More than just washing the dishes, I promise to learn to cook so I could serve you in your stressful days.
I promise to communicate better with you and to be more understanding of our quirks and differences. I promise to continue to be the sweet, thoughtful and loving Lanie. And when the right time comes, I promise to be a caring and nurturing teacher-mommy to our future children, as we raise them together.
I am looking forward to starting this adventure with you. I am excited to spend the rest of my life with you, choosing to love you every day, even on the hardest days. I love you, my artsy, dedicated, driven, responsible, jack-of-all-trades husband-to-be, Addie.
